A Moderated On-line Debate On: Was it Evolution, Creation, or Can These Ideas Coexist?

Evolution, Creation, Or Both? The Rules for Our Debate

This is a moderated debate on creationism, evolution, and whether or not these ideas are mutually exclusive.

The original seed for this project was planted by Mark Furhman. I, Doug Riddle, have posted many rambling essays on my own views about evolution and Mark expressed an interest in debating creation versus evolution with me. Mark is a "reformed evolutionist" and I am an "open minded evolutionist."   Since Mark and I do not live near enough to make meeting regularly a possibility, I figured I would host the debate on my web site. I called a few friends and they seemed interested, so here we are. I hope this is a successful venture and attracts some dedicated participants. It is my hope that we all have fun, get to know each other a little better and perhaps discover a few things.

The tenor of this argument is intended to be friendly. The purpose of this debate is share view points and broaden the participants understanding, appreciation for, and general enjoyment of the world we live in. In short, this debate is for the greater glory of knowledge and understanding of God's works. At the outset, the particiaption is by invitation. If you would like to participate, please read the Rules, Purpose and Scope for our debate. You can submit essays to me at doug@dougriddle.com,  and I will post them if they meet our criteria. Please submit any essays as in-line text or as a text attachment. I will not edit or alter any submissions except to format them in HTML. Please do not submit the essays in HTML. Many of the current HTML editors make assumptions about the web servers based on the operating system you are using, so your HTML code may not work on the remote server hosting my site. I try to keep the HTML code very basic and simple to be friendly to older browsers and slow modems. Please help me get your submission posted by saving it as a text file and attaching it to your email, or by cutting and pasting it into your email.

As I said, I will not edit or alter your submission, so if you spot a flaw, or spelling error in your submission, it will be your responsibility to resubmit a corrected edition. I will verify that it is an authentic resubmission to the extent I can.

I will try to stay current and post submissions as quickly as possible, but some delays are inevitable.

If requested, I will use one of two images as a background image:

 A Celtic Cross:

Or, the background this page uses, which is an image of a petroglyph from some twenty thousand years ago in Europe.

You may also submit an image of your own, but it must be suitable for all viewers, and of a small size for fast loading.
