For Kathryn's friends that thought she wouldn't know her own dad's pictures, yes, I am he. I do not post pictures of her, or pictures of any other minor on my site, because doing so would be stupid. But yes, Kathryn is my youngest daughter. Take a look at her eyes, then mine. She's mine. Had you seen her sing her solo, you would have seen me there. Come on, only a daughter would claim me. I swear, I am a nice guy, but you will get different opinions on that.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. I am little older, a little wiser. I was smiling back then, and I am still smiling now. There a lot worse things than being happy, growing older and watching your kids grow up. Life is good.
Let's see, I am 43, I'll be 44 in November 0f 2004. We are painfully middle class. I work at a Land Grant University where I do database design and management. I also work with researchers and the commodity boards. I also have the good fortune to work with people that love what they do, and feel that they make a difference in the world at large. I am lucky, and I know it. I am a Presbyterian, I am married to a great woman. We have two kids still at home, three dogs, a cat, a car, a truck I am rebuilding, and a remodeling project in full swing. Here is a tip, build, do not remodel. A basic remodeling job takes one to two years. Yes, you live in chaos for over a year with cabinets with no doors and walls with dead wires and nails, and so on. Better to build and move.
My wife has a website too, but doesn't do much with it. Here is another tip guys. Even if your wife pretends to be interested when you are working on your website, do not buy her a domain for her birthday. Not a bright idea. At all. Trust me.
I live in a small town. The check-out people at all of the stores know everyone in my family and if I leave my youngest daughter at the house when I go to the hardware store the fella that runs it fusses at me because he had some candy for her.
I grill steak on the weekends and I like meat loaf. My wife makes the best marinara in the world and she makes bread too. Here is a picture of her on my luckiest day:
Life is good. It wasn't always so, but it is now. I like to say that if it got any better, I just couldn't stand it. On the days that I cannot say that sincerely, I remember some of the dark days and it lifts my spirit. In my home we worship Jesus, we say grace at the table, we talk together, we eat together regularly, and we take care of each other. It just doesn't get any better than this... Only somehow, it does, a little bit at a time, one smile, one good night story and one bedtime prayer at a time.
Well, speaking of my life. I need to get back to it. Have a safe day and a nice life. Say grace before dinner and thank God for your family. Be good.
